About Me
I am an at-home parent with two children in the district.
We moved to Bloomington five years ago, in part because of the strong public schools, and we have loved the educational opportunities afforded here. I have been involved in the schools since we arrived, both with the PTA and also for the past four years as a member of a district advisory council. I am invested in this school district. And I am proud that our children attend Bloomington Public Schools. I have become a super fan who wants to champion our students, our educators and our staff.
A long time ago I worked as an attorney. Policy and governance are my happy places. Laws and policies are where we reveal ourselves most fully: our prejudices and our priorities are on full display. Good governance requires curiosity. It requires an awareness of, and a sensitivity to, your own blind spots. It requires a commitment to collaboration. It is not a place for ego, nor is it a place for blind adherence to partisan politics. I am here for the team lift, not an individual agenda.
Our school district deserves board members who love public education and the students it serves. We deserve board members who love educators and respect the work and professionalism they display every day in the classroom. Bloomington public schools have provided so much for us, it is time to give back.
Why I am Running
Cutting Through the Noise
Public education is often surrounded by noise — debates, division and distractions. But there is also clear signal: Focus on the children.
Our schools must be places where every student:
Feels welcomed and valued
Learns in a supportive environment
Is allowed to be their authentic self
School board policy should reflect this commitment—affirming students in their lived experiences and ensuring that education works for everyone.
Equity in Education
Public education is:
an investment in self-governance, and
an engine of economic growth.
To succeed, schools must serve everyone—giving all students the tools to succeed.
School board policy must engage with current realities, confront barriers to opportunity and drive inclusive solutions.
Strong Schools Build Community
Bloomington Public Schools is more than a collection of buildings. It is a civic institution that benefits all of Bloomington by:
uniting the community
inspiring pride
creating jobs and economic growth
attracting residents
Strong public schools build a strong future for Bloomington.
